Southwest Neuroscience and Spine Center is seeking a full-time Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work with one of our Neurosurgeons. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, eager to learn, and ready to hit the ground running in our exciting and fast-paced work environment. Primary responsibilities include all aspects of care for neurosurgical patients in the clinic setting as well as hospital consults, inpatient rounding, call, and surgical assist. The emphasis of the practice includes minimally invasive care of spinal pathology, intracranial pathology, and care of neurosurgical trauma patients. A typical work week will include 2 days of clinic and 2-3 surgical days with 5 days of call spread over a month.

Additional Responsibilities:
·Independently see and assess patients with neurosurgical conditions; document care provided to support the continuity of patient care and optimum patient outcomes
·Conduct clinical assessment of patients to develop diagnosis and implement a treatment plan according to best practice guidelines including counseling and education to facilitate optimum patient outcomes
·Order and interpret lab and diagnostic tests
·Collaborate with supervising physician in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients
·Submit billing and charge data in an accurate and timely manner
·Surgical assistant
Qualifications
·Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
·Master’s degree in Nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, or related
·Current licensure in the state of Texas
·Current DEA license
·Current national board certification
·Certified Surgical First Assistant
·ACLS certification
·Three years’ experience as a practicing mid-level provider preferred
·Experience in neurosurgery preferred
·Experience in a fast-paced, high customer volume work environment highly desirable
·Ability to exercise prudent and independent judgment, relative decision making with a high degree of accountability
·Excellent clinical, verbal ,and written communication, organization, and time management skills
